  3. in Lahti,  Radio  Mikkeli  in  Mikkeli, 
  4. Radio Nova  in Rauma,  but  there  were
  5. stations in  other  major  cities, too.
  6. Finnish PTL started soon action against
  7. free radios because they were afraid of
  8. ordinary   people   beginning  to  help 
  9. pirates. People could even have started
  10. asking for more radio stations.
  11.   In  the early 1980's PTL raided quite
  12. a few stations  in but a few years.  On
  13. SW amongst others Radio El Bimbo, Radio
  14. El Condorpasa and Sound of Finland were
  15. raided in 1980.  On FM victims included
  16. Radio 95, Radio Rasputin,  Radio Anarki
  17. and several others.  In lower courts of
  18. law operators were fined for 30'000 FIM
  19. or even more. That scared several other
  20. free radio  enthusiasts to cease trans-
  21. missions,  which  was  exactly what PTL
  22. wanted.
  23.   Radio 95 from Tampere took their case
  24. to the Court of Appeal in 1984.In lower 
  25. courts the operators had been fined for
  26. 65'000  marks,  but the Court of Appeal
  27. lowered the  sum down  to 600 FIM!  But 
  28. this information came in too late since
  29. #move 325,0
  30. many stations  had closed down earlier.
  31.   After the  beginning of 80's the Free
  32. radio activity  in Finland  hasn't been 
  33. too great. In 1985 the first commercial
  34. local  radios  started  in Finland.  We 
  35. must  thank all pirates  for that since 
  36. they were the first to get people think
  37. that there could be other voices on the
  38. radio besides YLE (PBC of Finland). 
  39. Because  the pirates were mostly fight-
  40. ing for  private local radios,  many of 
  41. them finished.  But some people weren't
  42. still satisfied. There were such people
  43. in Jyvaskyla,  and they  founded  a new
  44. free radio  station  called  Right-Wing
  45. Radio (RWR),  which was  to  become the
  46. best-known and the strongest FM-pirate.
